Prof. Wale Omole Inaugurates Foundation to Restore Cultural Values

The former Vice Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Professor Adebowale Omole has inaugurated “The Wale Omole Foundation for Virtues and Ethics in Yoruba Culture” to revive the ‘Omoluabi’ concept and encourage good moral conduct, especially among the Yoruba people.

According to the founder, Prof. Omole, the mission of the Foundation is to empower disadvantaged youth and women, and rural dwellers in underserved communities through quality education, food provisions and development initiatives.

He added that the Foundation is committed to restoring and preserving cultural values and heritage.

He said the Foundation aims to support initiatives that improve educational infrastructure; provide scholarships and support teacher training programs.

“Today marks a significant milestone in a journey that began over 40 years ago. The Foundation is not just a dream realised, it is also the culmination of decades of dedication, passion and relentless pursuit of a vision to make a meaningful difference in the society”, he said.

” From the very beginning, my life has been guided by a deep sense of purpose and an unwavering commitment to uplift and empower communities.

” I have seen how community development initiatives can create sustainable livelihoods and foster a sense of pride and belonging. And I have experienced the profound impact of preserving and promoting rich cultural heritage, which serves as a beacon of identity and unity.”

While highlighting the aims of the Wale Omole Foundation, he said: ” our mission is to create a brighter and more equitable future for all by focusing on education, community development, and cultural preservation. We believe that education is the cornerstone of progress”.

“we will also empower people through sustainable livelihoods, entrepreneurship, and access to essential services”.

” The Foundation will work to preserve and promote Yoruba culture through cultural festivals, heritage preservation projects, and promotion of indigenous arts and crafts.”

The CEO of the Foundation, Babatunde Olowu, also spoke at the event; he stressed the dedication of Prof. Omole towards the transformation of lives and igniting changes in forgotten communities.

He explained that the focus is to empower through agriculture, education and quality healthcare.

The speech of other dignitaries at the event cut across how reconnecting with reviving the Omoluabi concept, cultural values and the conduct can ease economic hardship.

Some of the personalities at the launch are, the Director of Cultural Studies, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Prof. Gbenga Fasiku; former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Segun Osoba; Publisher of The Guardian, Mrs Maiden Alex-Ibru; former Managing Director of First Bank, Mr. Jacobs Ajekigbe and former Chairman of Ecobank, Mr John Opeyemi, amongst other notable persons.
