Lagos comes alive with the vibrant sights and sounds of the inaugural Afropolis Festival, a pan-African carnival aimed at celebrating black cultural heritage, creativity, and innovation on a grand scale.
Organized by the Lagos State Government in collaboration with QDance Centre and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, this major event is poised to become a key cultural and tourism highlight in Nigeria, drawing an impressive audience of over 20,000 local and international visitors from more than 11 countries including South Africa, the United States, France, and Colombia.
With the theme “Within New Myth,” the Afropolis Festival will transform Lagos into the heart of African creativity from October 26th to November 3rd, positioning it as a powerful showcase of African identity, talent, and unity.

The festival kicked off with a spectacular carnival at the J. Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History marking a historic moment for Lagosians, led by Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat. It showcased several performances highlighting the energy and spirit of Nigeria’s largest city.

Afropolis serves as a unique opportunity for Nigeria to display its diverse cultural landscape, with activities celebrating Lagos as a black cultural melting pot. The festival’s lineup includes daily film screenings, interactive art installations, live performances, and diverse programming that spans African creativity from dance and music to visual arts and technology.
The closing weekend will be just as memorable, featuring an International Performance Weekend with the Afropolis Tribe of 2024 showcasing their talents, and a grand finale Afro House and EDM rave on November 3rd.
