

The town of Iludun Oro came alive as the 13th Igbomina Day celebration brought together dignitaries, community leaders, and well-wishers to honor the rich cultural heritage and legacy of the Igbomina people in Kwara State.
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq was in attendance, commending the community’s enduring commitment to self-sufficiency and their remarkable achievements in education and enterprise.
Governor Abdulrazaq, addressing the celebrants, praised their unity and highlighted the importance of peace and cohesion among all Nigerians, urging them to reject ethnic divisions for the sake of national unity and development.
“I urge you not to give up on the impressive cultural legacy of self-help handed over by your forebears. There is also a need for national unity and less emphasis on ethnic division, which creates division, disunity, and under development,” Governor Abdulrahman said.

The governor also expressed appreciation and applauded the leadership of Igbomina monarchs, led by the Olupo of Ajase Ipo and Chairman of the Igbomina Traditional Council, Oba Ismaila Yahaya Alebiosu, for their role in preserving the community’s values.
Governor Abdulrazaq also highlighted infrastructural strides made within Igbomina land, listing key road projects such as the Arandun-Esie-Oro Road, Owu Fall Road, Orisa Bridge in Oro Ago, Omu Aran Oko Road, Owode Ofaro-Alabe Road, and Ajase-Ipo Okeiya Road.
The projects were cited as part of efforts to boost both rural and urban development in the region.The event served as a rallying point for the Igbomina people to sustain their legacy of self-reliance and communal collaboration.
The celebration also had a moment of solemnity as Governor Abdulrazaq paid tribute to the late Chief Luqman Balogun (Jagun), leader of the hunters, whose recent passing was a significant loss to the community.
The 13th Igbomina Day celebration stood as a testament to the enduring strength of cultural identity, collective action, and the aspiration for continued progress among the Igbomina people.
